Maja Franković is a conservator-restorer with 18 years of experience in the development and implementation of projects in the field of cultural heritage preservation, interdisciplinary research, education and capacity building. As a conservator advisor, she is employed at the National Museum of Serbia.
In her previous work, she led more than 25 conservation-restoration projects, including the conservation of mosaics and stone artifacts from the Gamzigrad Felix Romulijana archaeological site, mosaics from the Villa Urbana site in Budva, and mosaics from the “Zadružni dom” site in Skelani in the Republic of Srpska. She participated in numerous scientific and professional conferences in the field of stone and mosaic conservation in the country and abroad. She published 35 papers with the results of her work. She coordinated and implemented training programs mainly aimed at students and young professionals.
Dedicated to improving the preservation of cultural heritage through fostering international and regional cooperation, she is the co-author of the SEE Mosaics project – a platform for collecting data on mosaics in Southeast Europe and networking experts who deal with this field of conservation. She is a member of professional associations – the National Committees ICOM and ICOMOS of Serbia and the Board of Directors of the International Committee for Mosaic Conservation, where she serves as secretary.
